On September 8, 2014, seven new firefighters started their recruit training with Delray Beach Fire-Rescue (DBFR). These new firefighters were all hired as a result of DBFR’s receipt of a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant. Each of them is dually certified as a firefighter and as a paramedic. By the time these new recruits reach the end of their first year, their training will have included a five week recruit academy and three months of on-shift paramedic training.
These new firefighters are a timely addition to the Department and will fill a crucial role in supplementing the staffing of DBFR’s emergency apparatus.
