FDNY Members Rescue Victims from Flash Flood

Fire Department of New York (FDNY) EMTs rescued three people trapped in a sinking car during a flash flood beneath a Queens overpass on Wednesday.

According to the Daily News (http://nydn.us/On96kn), EMTs Marilyn Arroyo and Jimmy Guailacela pulled an 86-year-old nun and her friends out of the vehicle just before the Lexus went under.

Arroyo said they’re glad they didn’t wait for firefighters to arrive, which is what they would usually do.

“We knew the car was going and we needed to get them out,” Arroyo said. “If we waited, they would have drowned.”
