Four Injured in Portland (OR) Apartment Fire

Firefighters rescued a bedridden man from a Monday afternoon apartment fire that left four people injured in Portland, Oregon.

Firefighters arrived on scene at the Hidden Court apartment complex after 4 p.m. to find flames shooting out of the middle of the building from the ground to the roof, reported KATU.

One man reportedly jumped out of a back window of one of the upstairs units that fire had fully engulfed. He was transported with unknown injuries.

Firefighters Andy French and Bryan Wells rescued a bedridden man on the bottom floor or another unit, the report said.

Firefighters said two other people were treated at the scene, but did not go to the hospital.

A release from Portland Fire & Rescue indicated that, because of heavy fire showing from the front of the building and a high rescue profile, the incident commander upgraded to a second alarm to bring additional resources to assist with vital firefighting and rescue functions.

A total of four patients were treated at the scene, with two of these patients were transported to area hospitals and were in serious condition at time of transport.

Multiple apartments were affected and Red Cross is assisting with displaced residents.
