Firefighters rushed to the Los Angeles Zoo Thursday after an employee tumbled roughly 20 feet into the gorilla enclosure, reports pix11.com.
The worker fell in just before 8:30 a.m., according to the fire department.
Using a ladder and rope system, at least a dozen firefighters brought the man to safety. He suffered a fractured femur in the fall and was rushed to an area hospital in fair condition.
Emergency workers placed the man on his side on a long spine board and transferred him to an ambulance at the scene.
All the gorillas living at the Hollywood zoo were secured at the time of the apparent accident.
