Firefighters Rescue Resident at Three-Alarm Cambridge (MA) Fire

Firefighters responded early Thursday, October 12, 2023, to a fire at a garden-style apartment complex in Cambridge, Massachusetts, that went to three alarms.

According to information from the Cambridge (MA) Fire Deparment, crews responded just before 7 a.m. to the fire the fire in a three-story structure at 249 Garden St. and found smoke and fire showing on arrival.

In a coordinated attack, the first-due engine initiated a fast attack via deck gun while handlines were stretched inside and a ladder company initiated search operations. Additonal companies stretched lines, searched for and removed residents, and performed overhaul and ventilation.

During the search, a resident was located in a third floor apartment in heavy smoke conditions and was rescued by firefighters via a ground ladder. The resident was treated and transported to a medical facility, and another resident was also treated and transported.

The fire was rapidly contained and extinguished, and is under investigation.
