Firefighters Rescue Residents from Florida Retirement Community

Firefighters rescued 15 residents from a retirement community during a fire today in Collier County, Florida.

According to the local NBC affiliate (http://bit.ly/1o2cWPt), firefighters performing rescues using a ladder to the third floor and one from a ground floor unit.

The residents all made it out for assessment by first responders, with smoke inhalation being the biggest concern. Paramedics treated five people on scene and transported three to the hospital.

There was a prior fire at this facility in 2011. During that fire, it took 30 minutes to remove 100 residents.
