Hamilton (OH) Firefighter Rescued After Mayday Call

A Hamilton firefighter made a “mayday” call and had to be rescued Thursday night while battling a large fire at a Main Street building, reports WHIO.

Fire crews were called just before 9:15 p.m. to a fire that started in the back part of the building that houses the Chinese Lantern restaurant in the 900 block of Main Street on the city’s west side, Deputy Fire Chief Troy Pugh said.

A firefighter was pulled out and was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be minor, Pugh said.

The back part of the two-story structure was destroyed. It was unoccupied, but there was a lot of debris inside, Pugh said.
