Haz-Mat Guide

A guide to state and local emergency officials for responding to hazardous materials incidents is being offered at no charge by FEMA.

“Planning Guide and Checklist for Hazardous Materials Contingency Plans” includes suggestions, questions and comments from over 300 people concerned with planning for and managing these incidents.

The guide can help planners and emergency services managers decide whether a contingency plan is needed, and it describes how to implement the most suitable one. It also shows how to evaluate the plan’s effectiveness. Publication FEMA-10 may be obtained from Office of Printing and Publications, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Washington, D.C. 20472.
