IN Firefighters Contend with Hazmat Spill at Fire Response

According to a report from WISHTV, the Wayne Township (IN) Fire Department (WTFD) received assistance from the Indianapolis Fire Department’s (IFD’s) Hazmat Team during a call for fire early Friday morning.

The incident occurred in the 8000 block of West 10th Street. The WTFD said no fire was found, but crews did investigate a mechanical malfunction in a mixing unit that produced smoke in the building’s interior.

WTFD firefighters said the incident turned out to be larger than expected.
