Last week, Indianapolis Fire Department firefighters responded to an Amtrak Train stopped on railroad tracks with the front of a car crushed underneath it.

The incident occurred Saturday, July 9, and critically injured a female in the vehicle. The victim’s three-year-old female daughter was hospitalized in good condition.

One firefighter sustained a slight injury and was transported to be checked out.

Preliminary witness statements say that car may have run into the train as the train was coming through the intersection. Lights were working and flashing. The Amtrak Passenger train was coming from New York and headed to Chicago with a stop in Indy.

All 130 passengers on the train were okay and accounted for.
