MA Firefighter Pinned in Roof Collapse

Fire Captain George Geary of the Norwood (MA) Fire Department was pinned when the roof of an office building collapsed on him.

The 30-year-department veteran was quickly rescued by colleagues. He refused medical treatment and returned to work, according to a report on boston.com.

Firefighters responded to a midday call at a three-building complex after the roof partially collapsed while workers were removing snow with snowblowers.

Geary entered the structure’s fire alarm room to work on the sprinkler system, which had been activated, when another part of the roof collapsed. A snowblower reportedly fell from the roof into the room in which Geary was working.
