North Penn (PA) Firefighters Rescue Unresponsive Patient from Home

North Penn volunteer firefighters lower an unresponsive patients from an upper floor of a house.

Last night, firefighters with the North Penn (PA) Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched for a lift assist at a dwelling.

Crews determined due to possible head trauma, the patient’s weight, and the presence of a spiral staircase in the residence, the safest route would be out the third floor window.

Crews used a stokes basket to the lower the unresponsive patient safely to the ground. Crews wrapped 3/pull 2 around the ladder’s tire as an anchor. A belay rack was used as a lowering device and pulley at the tip of the ladder for a change of direction. 

North Penn (PA) Volunteer Fire Company operates out of Montgomery County Station 62 in North Wales, Pennsylvania.
