CA Crews Rescue Two Men Who Fell 75 Feet Off Rooftop

According to a report from EastBayTimes, two men were rescued by Oakland (CA) Fire Department (OFD) crews after falling approximately 75 feet off of a roof, down a hillside and into a gulch.

The two men were working on the roof of a home in the 7100 block of Thorndale Drive in the Oakland Hills at around 8:30 a.m. when they fell down a sloping hillside, hitting a patio railing on the way down.

OFD Battalion Chief Anthony Sanders said that, after coming to rest in the gulch, the men called 911 for help. The first-arriving fire crews called for a special heavy rescue team and provided medical care to the two men.

The men suffered what were called “significant injuries,” including broken bones and bruises, Sanders said.

Rescue crews safely descended the hillside and brought the men up in rescue baskets. They were then transported to a local hospital. Their current condition was not immediately known.
