
A firefighter with the Philadelphia (PA) Fire Department was killed in a structural collapse that injured several others.
According to the U.S. Fire Administration notice, Lieutenant Sean Williamson, 51, responded to a fire at a commercial building at 300 W. Indiana St. on Saturday, June 18, 2022. Eight occupants of the property were safely evacuated.
Approximately an hour later, the fire was under control. Firefighters remained working when the building collapsed around 3 a.m. Five firefighters and one inspector became trapped. Five of the individuals were rescued and immediately transported to the hospital. Lieutenant Sean Williamson was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Lieutenant Williamson was a former Marine and had 27 years in the Philadelphia Fire Department.
An investigation into the collapse is underway.
