Roof Collapses at Vacant FL Building Next to Packed Soccer Stadium

According to a report from ClickOrlando, a massive fire erupted at an abandoned downtown Orlando, Florida, building as 63,000 soccer fans watched the Juventus vs. Real Madrid match nearby at Camping World Stadium.

The flames began at around 10 p.m. near 1300 W. Pine Street. Because of the nearby event, Orlando Fire Department (OFD) crews as well as police had to conduct crowd control and traffic as they managed the incident.

OFD officials said the building, previously an auto repair shop where squatters are seen, has caught fire in the past.

OFD Chief Charlie Salazar said crews went defensive, and one roof collapsed, so they called a second alarm.

One OFD member suffered a minor injury and was treated on scene.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
