Tennessee Firefighter Dies After Being Struck by Tree

A 41-year-old Tennessee firefighter died from injuries he sustained after being struck by a tree at an emergency scene.

The U.S. Fire Administration reported that, while working at the scene of a motor vehicle accident with fire, Madison County (TN) Fire Department Firefighter Christopher Michael Blankenship was seriously injured when a tree at the scene fell on top of him. Firefighters quickly removed the tree from Blankenship and rendered medical aid. Blankenship was then transported to the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Blankenship had 10 years of service.
