The Cahaba Valley (AL) Fire and Emergency Medical Rescue District designed this EMERGENCY ONE pumper and a 75-foot quint to protect a 26-square-mile suburban area of 15,000 outside of Birmingham. Public Information Officer Grant R. Wilkinson says the pumper?s short wheelbase enables it to negotiate cul-de-sacs and numerous parking lots. The enclosed climate-controlled, top-mount pump panel keeps the operator dry and serves as a rehab area for the rest of the crew. An enclosed ladder rack protects the equipment from the elements and makes lowering easier with a reduced crew.
