Three UT Firefighters Injured in Stair Collapse at Construction Site

According to a report from ABC4, a stairway at a construction site collapsed Monday, injuring three West Valley City (UT) Fire Department (WVCFD) firefighters who were attempting to rescue a person.

The WVCFD initially responded to a fall at a construction site at 1770 W 4100 S. During the rescue, an interior staircase collapsed, injuring the victim being rescued as well as the firefighters.

One WVCD member was transported to a local hospital by a medical helicopter. The other two firefighters suffered less serious injuries and are now being treated.

The condition of the initial person they were rescuing is unknown.
