WA Firefighter Who Led Rescue Praises Parents’ Actions

The firefighter who led the dramatic New Year’s rescue of a family of four from a Bellingham (WA) duplex fire praised the family’s father for providing accurate information that helped firefighters locate his wife and two daughters.

According to the Bellingham Herald (http://bit.ly/suKrQt), the family of four remained hospitalized in serious condition Monday after the incident. Firefighters at the scene encountered the dad, Joseph MacGregor, attempting to rescue his unconscious family members. MacGregor was able to show Bellingham Captain Danny Anderson exactly where his wife and the girls were trapped, allowing firefighters to make the rescue.

Anderson praised MacGregor and his wife, Jennifer, who apparently closed a door as she and her daughters sought refuge from the heat and smoke of the fire.

Two family cats apparently died in the fire.
