At approximately 1452 hours on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, Warren (MI) Fire Department Quint 1 and Squad 1 were dispatched to a reported person trapped in a trench.
While en route, Quint 1 requested a full technical rescue assignment. Upon arrival, a male was located trapped in an approximately seven-foot deep hole, buried to his waist; the victim had been doing foundation work on a residential dwelling.
Crews started shoring and started a rescue by hand digging around the victim. Crews worked to free the trapped victim for about one hour and were able to complete a successful rescue. The victim was transported by Warren Fire Department with a fractured leg and no other visible injury.
Warren Quint 1, Engine 5, Rescue 4, SRU, Squad 1, Squad 2 Battalion Chief, Special Ops Chief, Fire Chief & Deputy Chief responded tothis incident.
