Firefighters with the Los Angeles County (CA) Fire Department were joined by City of Los Angeles (CA) Fire Department Copter 5 and units from the U.S. Forest Service.

Members worked in 100° heat to control a vegetation fire in heavy brush and trees, shutting down the I5 freeway for hours. The I5 is a main artery between Los Angeles and Central California. As of last recording, the fire had consumed 464 acres and was 63 percent contained. Two firefighters had received injuries, but they did not appear to be life threatening.
